In my first blog post I’m going to talk about my initial experiences on the interactive media production course and a few thoughts towards my images project. After a fairly relaxed week of inductions at the university and meeting course mates, the course properly kicked off on Monday. I found the first key note lecture to be quite intense and really had to focus on what was being said despite suffering from a bad case of fresher’s flu. I feel that what was being said in the lecture about signification is extremely important in regards to the images project that we have been set, the images that are chosen and how they are edited must signify to the audience nature and technology in one image. We also had smaller lectures specific to interactive media production on the first day, these helped to relate a lot of what was said in the keynote lecture to the course and obviously focused further on the interactive side of modern media.
From Tuesday the week became a lot more practical, I enjoyed getting on Photoshop and using the Macs and brushing up on the skills that will be required to create the images for this term’s project. I found that the workshop tutorials were run well and the aspects of Photoshop were explained clearly so I now understand a lot more of the tools.
I have also thought of a few ideas for the nature and technology images project so have attached a couple of images below that I may use for the first couple of images.
In the week I also went out with my course mates on Thursday, was great to meet them outside of university and get to know each other properly despite the lack of effort towards the fancy dress theme.
Finally, I’m looking forward to the coming week, another keynote lecture at 10 o’clock on Monday morning.... and getting into the project and starting to edit some images.
